Paris: A walk to remember | Deccan Herald E-Paper

It was raining in Paris when I landed there, unlike Paris and quite like London, with showers drenching us unpredictably and the sky a dull grey. But the moment I entered the city, the fleeting sight of trees, old vintage buildings, cafes and streets brought back to me the warmest thoughts of my first visit to Paris.

My first stop in Paris was The Louvre. It made me realise how much beauty and love exists in this beautiful city.

Paris is a city that grows on you. It’s not what you see here, rather it’s what you experience here that stays with you.

Like Thomas Jefferson said, “A walk about Paris will provide lessons in history, beauty, and in the point of Life.”

There’s so much to do in Paris; there’s opera, theatre, Moulin Rouge shows; there’s Tuileries Garden,s, Versailles Palace, Arc de Triomphe, Champ Elysees, The Latin Quarter, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and the Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral that is going through a renovation for the damage that it had suffered recently. There is art on every street and corner of Paris, and there are art lovers, too. And then there is River Seine that flows through the heart of the city.

A cruise of River Seine is a must if you wish to get some wonderful Instagrammable clicks of Eiffel Tower, especially in the night.

Montmartre is one place anyone would love to visit. As you walk through the streets of Montmartre, you finally reach the Sacre Couer Church, whose
stairs offer the most stunning view of the city.

The corner shops and their warm waffles and crepes, the rich aroma of coffee emanating from the cafes that dot the streets, the musicians playing instruments and singing, the fashion boutiques invoking the fashionista in you, the theatrical performances that leave you awe-struck… these are the experiences that you collect and live in Paris.

Paris certainly leaves you intoxicated. It does grow on you.

The Kingfisher Ultra Derby Bangalore 2018

In British and welsh culture fascinators or hatinators have been a part of any royal tradition, weddings or derbies!! They are chic statement pieces and are bold & extravagant fashion choices and could turn out to be conversation starting pieces… this Derby Bangalore saw some of the most lovely women sporting fascinators, some in subtle trendy way while others in bold fashion. Let’s have a look..

Tips to rock the fascinators , or hats trend this summer in style

  1. It must suit your personality. It must be something that is easier to manage and reflects a part of your personality thereby making it your signature style.
  2. Most of the hats suit your face when worn in an angle, so take care how it is tilted to one side, the label is at the back etc.
  3. How to wear your hair with a fascinator – ideally a low bun and pony thereby showing your face and neck while wearing a hat or head gear is the way to go for it.

I wore it in one side and left my hair open.

Most importantly have fun while looking good and enjoy the occasion.

The fashion game was on all time high this kingfisher ultra derby at the bangalore turf club. We got featured in almost all the newspapers that spoke about derby fashion along with excerpts in the same subject that was featured on local channels.

Aashish Art and Culture Entrepreneur

Meet Aashish, he calls himself “art and culture entrepreneur”. He left his full-time job for his passion towards art. Also, he feel that what he is doing today, he should have started earlier. Now he is fully involved with creating music, singing and performing on stage.

When asked what what makes you motivated and keep going? See what he has to say?

My mother and her dream of seeing me doing something for the nation and in turn for the world, at the same time standing out and making a name for myself… always keeps me going. I’m sure I can still make her proud even when she’s physically not in this world, says Aashish.

Read his full interview and I am sure, he has said lot many things which can motivate you.

Tell us about yourself, what do you like most about your field of work?

I would like to call myself an art and culture entrepreneur and I intend to promote culture, child rights & environment protection through my music.

What I like most about my work is the freedom of expression and the independence in thoughts with which I can create my projects and the influence I create and difference I can make through my songs & music.

Your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before choosing this field?

I was a management consultant in few of world’s top companies. And I provided business consulting to other companies either for their new setups or for tweaking their already existing businesses for profitable and efficient working.

How did you land up doing what you do now?

I guess I was always meant to do what I’m doing NOW.. after few years of trying out being in a regular corporate job. I always felt I don’t belong there and I’m wasting my time by not doing something I’m meant to do then this music album happened and now I’m fully into creating music, singing and performing on stage.

If not the current profession, what would you have been?

I would still be writing fat business reports, some of which you may have also referred to for your business. (Chuckles)

What motivates you to keep going?

My mother and her dream of seeing me doing something for the nation and in turn for the world, at the same time standing out and making a name for myself… always keeps me going. I’m sure I can still make her proud even when she’s physically not in this world.

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

My day starts with a good workout session followed by a hearty breakfast then I check my to do list for the day which I make a night before and check my mails. Then I start my music practice for at least 3 hours and post that I keep my meetings for the day and evenings are usually either sipping tea with family or playing some sport. I sing for few hours before hitting the bed as that gives me a peaceful sleep.

Any regrets till now? If yes, will you like to share it with our readers?

I should have started my musical journey professionally at least a bit earlier than this when my mother was around.

If you were given a choice of meeting any person you want, who will be that person?

If I’m free to choose amongst the dead ones also I would like to meet Michael Jackson, because he was not just a musician, singer and dancer but he was and still is the biggest phenomenon of music in the world. He created music with heart for the causes he was concerned about and did a lot for the society as a whole. I’d have loved to meet him and hear him live.

What is the biggest misconception that you think people have about you?

People who know me they know me very well but who just meet me once I think they think I’m a bit of a snob but truly I’m not that at all just that I don’t open up so easily with people but once I do they know me inside out.

Any message that you want to send to your readers?

I just want to say to all my readers that passion is something that keeps you going and life isn’t worth living if you are too afraid to live your dream… so dream on and follow your passion… you’ll definitely find your way someday…

International women’s day – celebrating womanhood

TRANSCRIPT

Life can be a challenge..

How do you, as a woman evolved,

Unleash Power Within, to ride over your challenge?

The Wonder Women World

A topper in college (with a background in Law), a voracious reader (who loves to write), a former lawyer in the High Court of Bangalore, meet Anuja Pandey who quit her job to partner with her equally enterprising brother Ashish Dubey to set up Lofty Spectrums – a fashion, travel and lifestyle blog.

Anuja, because of her father’s profession, grew up experiencing the fabulous diversity across India. It has helped her easily adapt to people, languages and cultures. She says, these experiences shaped her into what she is today.

Via Lofty Spectrums, Anuja and her brother give voice to not only their sensibilities but to many brands and designers in Bangalore and beyond. They have done successful collaborations with some of the leading jewelry, fashion and lifestyle brands in India and consult on personal and corporate brand styling. Lofty Spectrums have also been roped in as the official grooming, styling and fashion consultants for several beauty pageants.

Anuja Pandey2

Anuja says, “It is not easy to keep track of the latest trends and serve what people love to see or read and also keep in mind what our clients have to offer, but what I do gives me immense satisfaction and I get to learn so much in the process”. Having only just come out of one her toughest years (losing her mother just before her 60th birthday, Anuja has come to realize that a lifetime is not enough with the ones you love, “so treasure love and relationships over everything else, treasure time and invest it wisely on people who matter.”

As for her message to all the wonder women out there, Anuja says, “Love yourself, women are the most wonderful creations of nature, they are most capable – as they produce, nurture, and provide love and warmth. Appreciate other women, try to be the wind beneath the wings of another woman. Live, love and laugh.”

Passion Connect

A lawyer specialized in Media and Entertainment Law from London Metropolitan University and a topper of her batch in Philosophy honours and masters from Hindu College, University of Delhi, Anuja Pandey’s love lies in writing poetries and theatre. Language and culture have been in her veins since childhood as her mother was a freelance writer and a literature gold medallist of her times.

Being in private sectors for many years, she chose to cater to her artistic side and shifted her focus of work to lifestyle and fashion blogging. http://www.loftyspectrums.com is a fashion, travel and lifestyle blog which is co-founded by Anuja Pandey and her brother Lucky as his sense of aesthetics finds appeal and beauty in the little things of life.

Anuja Pandey1

“We love the nuances of fashion and travel! Travelling different places enhances your experience and escalates your sense of food, wine and culture and hence fashion. Every time it adds to our sensibilities, it makes us alive.”

Lofty Spectrums give voice to not only the reader’s interest but to brands and designers in Bangalore. In recent times, they have collaborated with eminent brands like Tanishq, Titan, Pallavi Foley, CKC, Lakme Fashion Week, Blackberrys, Red Tape, Unlimited, Myntra, Biba, Swarovski, Hidesign and many more. They offer styling consulting to clients (personal and brands), design promotional campaigns for various brands. They are also grooming, styling and fashion consultants for International Beauty Pageants. So Lofty Spectrums is a one-stop solution for every fashion aficionado.

“My mother is my role model, my mentor, my philosopher, best friend and greatest love.”

Her sense of excellence and knack for achieving perfection has been the reason of how she continues to see and recognise extraordinary in what might appear ordinary to some. Anuja is full of life and adventure which is one thing everybody should learn from her. She believes in no regrets in life but to learn from your mistakes and move on. “Cogito ergo sum” – “Think hard before any action” is her philosophy.

Her message to people who wants to follow on her path – “If you want to do something, and you feel passionate about it then you must give it a try. Don’t undermine your qualities and your capabilities. You don’t need to be a graduate in that particular field to pursue it, just believe in yourself, do self-assessment and be true to what you are. Age and qualifications don’t matter, mind matters, positivity matters.”
