Staycation at Shangri-La Fitness goals & health club

At Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru, health and wellness are more than just a short-term indulgence; they are a way of life. Keeping this in mind, the hotel’s level 3 was designed to be a fully equipped dedicated wellness floor that caters to all its guests’ health and wellness needs. It treats guests to a variety of experiences that takes them away from their busy schedules to an environment of peace, calm and healing.

Last weekend We had an opportunity to stay in this lavish property that is nestled in the heart of the city. We had an amazing time starting our Saturday with some exotic and delicious Mediterranean lunch at Caprese. The platter was delicious with cheese and meat along with exotic fruits and salads sprayed with aromatic olive oil. And yes, then I headed to room to take a siesta for after that I had to go ahead n work it out.

Hence it’s always a great idea to spend a weekend unwinding here, though in the heart of the city yet so relaxed and tranquil. And I chose to spend some quality time exercising and swimming, sleeping eating and repeating at Shangri-La.

This oasis of tranquillity features an outdoor temperature-controlled swimming pool and a hydro-thermal experience encompassing a steam bath, sauna and a Jacuzzi. The wellness floor also has a state-of-the-art gymnasium equipped with Technogym ARTIS and ARKE series, the unparalleled, highest-quality gym equipment. In addition, guests can benefit from personal training sessions tailored to their unique fitness requirements.

All the facilities of CHI, the spa and health club are nestled in one floor. This time my #staycation focussed on the physical training and a swim and then finally dinner in the room. When it’s Anuja coming for staycation she makes sure she goes for a spa session at CHI.

In addition to the CHI spa, the wellness floor has a 24-hour Health Club with a variety of cardio machines, including treadmills, cross trainers, upright bicycles, recumbent bicycles and stair masters, all with a touchscreen offering TV services and Internet connectivity, along with top-of- the-line equipment from Technogym’s Kinesis, ARKE and OMNIA series. Professional trainers provide guidance and ensure that training is conducted in a safe manner.

With the launch of Technogym’s “Wellness on the Go”, users are able to enjoy the wellness lifestyle wherever they are – in the gym, at home, at work or outdoors – and stay connected to their world and their training. With an integrated Android interface, users can work, give interviews and hold conference calls digitally while training.

Other facilities on the wellness floor include a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, relaxation room and a heated lounger. Also available is a kids’ pool and an outdoor pool, with a depth of 1.2 metres and a length of 25 metres, making it ideal for both leisure and training.

The swimming pool is open to in-house guests daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Non-residential guests may also access the pool and other facilities through yearly or half-yearly memberships.

Health Club membership is available for individual guests, couples, families of four (a couple with two children aged up to 16 years old) and for groups of five members or more. Swimming pool membership is available for individual guests and couples.

Guests may relax and rejuvenate at the CHI spa from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Non-resident guests may access the club from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. The well-equipped gymnasium is available to in-house guests 24 hours daily.

Have u had a #staycation yet in this plush luxury hotel, if not then go ahead and book your weekend folks.

The best Friend’s toast- with TITAN #weddingtales

Beautiful times always go hand in hand with raising a toast. It is the remembrance of the moments shared, memories created and words in salutation of the sentiment involved in the situation, especially when it is your best friend who is getting into the wedlock.

My handsome friend, Ashish, was getting married. He is been my companion in hours of happiness as well as my sorrow, the childhood friend who knows it all, he can read my every expression, hear my unsaid words, and see the uncried tears of my eyes. He can recognise the twinkle of my eye when it is a naughty thought that crosses my mind. Earlier on, when he reached any milestone I would ask what did you get for me, he would only reply back in a very filmy, typically Shahrukh khan style, “main accha samay Le kar aaya hoon…”

And, I got to know that this best friend of mine got fixed with the girl of his dreams. This called for celebrations, in anticipation of the happy times which will follow, time for good wishes and salutations.

So when I raised the toast to my Best Friend’s wedding, he surprised me and finally he got it for me, the “Accha Samay”, the good times with the timeless Titan watch set he gifted to us as a reminder of all the great, priceless moments spent.

Weddings are heavenly affair and every wedding has a story to it which involves many a characters apart from the bride and groom. Undoubtedly, the couple occupies the centrestage, yet, as my mom would say

every relationship is a microcosm, it is unique in itself and it is opaque to the outer world.

Thus, the best friends are always the best of friends and, in this case, the best friend’s wedding meant a lot of responsibility too. He is my lover, my bestie, my soulmate, I hate him as much as I love him, I travel and ride this wave of highs and lows with him, I share a lifetime of childhood memories with him, our pains are mutual, our love and happiness, the zest and excitement is exclusively extraordinary, yet inclusive of others, respectful of space and time…I rejoice with him today for his happiness, this best friend of mine happens to be my brother.

Toasting to this beautiful, pure love, the worst of fights, the heavenly bonding, three cheers to the good times ahead, with the exclusive collection of the gorgeously timeless yet ahead of times, the Titan watches. Raising a toast to the extraordinary with the extraordinary and elevated Titan, the delicious cocktail of the classic with a twist of style, fizz of glamour. As he gifts this wondrous watches to us, he also keeps another one for his lovely life partner. The impressively upped in style quotient, the extraordinaire titan watches, tell that the time ticks, life goes on but love stays, relationships last, moments get counted but with a promise of countless treasured memories and lovelier ones to follow, with a zest to live this very moment fully that life has to offer.

I, Anuja, raise a toast to my best friend, to you Lucky, with all my good wishes and love, to you the mascot of good times, exalt, hail and cheers… May love always prevail in our times and may you be the titan of amazing times…Mazel Tov!!!

A simple cup of tea is far from a simple matter. My favourite thing to do on a rainy day is drink tea and read good words by amazing people.

“There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea”. – Henry James

Tea brings people together in ways that you couldn’t imagine and its magic is something that is hard to describe in words. For each individual the ceremony of tea is personal and cannot be duplicated.

However, there is a bond between tea drinkers all around the world, no matter what decade they were born in, what nationality or personal beliefs. We speak the same language and empathize with each.

The idea of tea to most of us is a lovely experience in a patio with hot snacks. And to top it all if it’s a rainy afternoon and I’m with my best of pals there is nothing that could beat this or even come close to it. And this happened the afternoon when the effervescent Aishwarya and the communication head of Shangrila , the gorgeous Shamira invited me for the “chai ki thadi “, a high tea at Shangri-la hotels, an affair to remember along with my beautiful friend Anu and handsome Ashish aka lucky.

Chai for me is more than chai, it has to be served in the best of China and crockeries, and the ambience is something which should never go wrong. And to say the least, Shangrila champions in these departments of the interiors, the ambiance, the service. I am sure it was one of the most memorable afternoons spent laughing, chatting( you can read gossiping) and munching delicious snacks and mouth watering mousses along with friends, and to add  to it all was the awesomely romantic weather. Yes, it was raining and as we sat in the grand lobby of Shangrila which is all French Windows and glass everywhere, we could enjoy the sight which was so amazing, Rains and more rains, and here inside it was tea and more cutting chai, freshly brewed right there in front of you and served with so much warmth and style that it makes the whole tea experience exotic.

The chai ki thadi is happening everyday till 5 pm at Lobby Lounge the Chai Adda with Shangrila’s specialty “Chai ki thadi”.

This is priced at INR 700 Vegetarian and INR 770 plus applicable taxes with unlimited serving of the menu for the day and Masala Chai.

  • Coleslaw Chicken sandwich
  • Dry fruit Samosa
  • Cookies
  • Blueberry Mousse
  • White & Dark Chocolate Mousse
  • Scones
  • Savouries ( Masala peanuts, Murukku and Corn Mixture )

Although tea is my first love and wine second and I can go on writing or reading a book with any number of cups of tea and hence can go on writing yet I would want to finish this with the wise words of– C. S. Lewi0 “You can’t get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.”

Happy tea time all you folks.
