The Kingfisher Ultra Derby Bangalore 2018

In British and welsh culture fascinators or hatinators have been a part of any royal tradition, weddings or derbies!! They are chic statement pieces and are bold & extravagant fashion choices and could turn out to be conversation starting pieces… this Derby Bangalore saw some of the most lovely women sporting fascinators, some in subtle trendy way while others in bold fashion. Let’s have a look..

Tips to rock the fascinators , or hats trend this summer in style

  1. It must suit your personality. It must be something that is easier to manage and reflects a part of your personality thereby making it your signature style.
  2. Most of the hats suit your face when worn in an angle, so take care how it is tilted to one side, the label is at the back etc.
  3. How to wear your hair with a fascinator – ideally a low bun and pony thereby showing your face and neck while wearing a hat or head gear is the way to go for it.

I wore it in one side and left my hair open.

Most importantly have fun while looking good and enjoy the occasion.

The fashion game was on all time high this kingfisher ultra derby at the bangalore turf club. We got featured in almost all the newspapers that spoke about derby fashion along with excerpts in the same subject that was featured on local channels.

A day in Colombo

Sri Lanka– this island is seduced all of Europe; the Portuguese, the Dutch and the English. Only a short hop across the water from India, we have a southern neighbour who make a compelling destination for so many reasons. Part of this fantastic land is it’s abundance of incredible cinnamon, which made it a key pitstop on the Spice route. It has a lot to be seen, Buddhist temples, tea estates, scenic hilly towns and its jungles where we could trek for hours and spend an afternoon worthy to be remembered forever.

My one day in Colombo

High rise building and luxury hotels in contrast to the colonial architecture typical of the old town make it a treat. This “garden city of the east” has many cool eateries, galleries and shops abound, there’s a whole lot on offering for someone who is looking to explore the cultural and evolving social landscape of this city.

Food is sunshine in abundance. There is sunshine laced on coconuts bowls of curry and spicy sambol served with steaming string hoppers. Excellent places to eat- MINISTRY OF CRAB is probably Sri Lanka’s best known restaurant which serves great sea food and sits in a old Dutch building. It’s on the spendy end of city’s eating spectrum.

Lavish resorts and hotels make it appropriate place for wedding and modelling shoots.

Beaches and water sports make for a fun time if you are with a group of friends. I had a rejuvenating time timing about the town for shopping an amazing silks and stones. Then the resort where we stayed offered some scenic places for shoot. I’m wearing @laxmikrishnalabel and @rubansaccessories. The evening sunset time made the pics come out lovely. There’s a thing for each one of us there, be it a foodie or fashionista, a jungle lover or water baby.

I went around spending some crazy time with my friends in water sports.

The sound of tuktuks and lazy afternoons make it a gorgeous lil getaway in the heart of it all.

Aashish Art and Culture Entrepreneur

Meet Aashish, he calls himself “art and culture entrepreneur”. He left his full-time job for his passion towards art. Also, he feel that what he is doing today, he should have started earlier. Now he is fully involved with creating music, singing and performing on stage.

When asked what what makes you motivated and keep going? See what he has to say?

My mother and her dream of seeing me doing something for the nation and in turn for the world, at the same time standing out and making a name for myself… always keeps me going. I’m sure I can still make her proud even when she’s physically not in this world, says Aashish.

Read his full interview and I am sure, he has said lot many things which can motivate you.

Tell us about yourself, what do you like most about your field of work?

I would like to call myself an art and culture entrepreneur and I intend to promote culture, child rights & environment protection through my music.

What I like most about my work is the freedom of expression and the independence in thoughts with which I can create my projects and the influence I create and difference I can make through my songs & music.

Your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before choosing this field?

I was a management consultant in few of world’s top companies. And I provided business consulting to other companies either for their new setups or for tweaking their already existing businesses for profitable and efficient working.

How did you land up doing what you do now?

I guess I was always meant to do what I’m doing NOW.. after few years of trying out being in a regular corporate job. I always felt I don’t belong there and I’m wasting my time by not doing something I’m meant to do then this music album happened and now I’m fully into creating music, singing and performing on stage.

If not the current profession, what would you have been?

I would still be writing fat business reports, some of which you may have also referred to for your business. (Chuckles)

What motivates you to keep going?

My mother and her dream of seeing me doing something for the nation and in turn for the world, at the same time standing out and making a name for myself… always keeps me going. I’m sure I can still make her proud even when she’s physically not in this world.

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

My day starts with a good workout session followed by a hearty breakfast then I check my to do list for the day which I make a night before and check my mails. Then I start my music practice for at least 3 hours and post that I keep my meetings for the day and evenings are usually either sipping tea with family or playing some sport. I sing for few hours before hitting the bed as that gives me a peaceful sleep.

Any regrets till now? If yes, will you like to share it with our readers?

I should have started my musical journey professionally at least a bit earlier than this when my mother was around.

If you were given a choice of meeting any person you want, who will be that person?

If I’m free to choose amongst the dead ones also I would like to meet Michael Jackson, because he was not just a musician, singer and dancer but he was and still is the biggest phenomenon of music in the world. He created music with heart for the causes he was concerned about and did a lot for the society as a whole. I’d have loved to meet him and hear him live.

What is the biggest misconception that you think people have about you?

People who know me they know me very well but who just meet me once I think they think I’m a bit of a snob but truly I’m not that at all just that I don’t open up so easily with people but once I do they know me inside out.

Any message that you want to send to your readers?

I just want to say to all my readers that passion is something that keeps you going and life isn’t worth living if you are too afraid to live your dream… so dream on and follow your passion… you’ll definitely find your way someday…

Kwaa Karnataka women achievers awards – fashion icon award goes to… #yourstruly

Karnataka Women Achievers’ Awards 2018 (KWAA)

While it’s not easy to be a woman. It’s definitely never so being a woman achiever!!

Am empowered woman is powerful and beautiful beyond description. Working towards your goals with consistency and carving a niche in your area of work is what is recognised by #kwaa wherein an esteemed panel of jury decided #loftyspectrums, that’s me gals, to be worthy of the honour of being the “fashion icon” of Karnataka.
The awards were bestowed at Taj yashwantpura , it was a studded red carpet event in the presence of prominent social figures like Chenamma Deve Gowda, wife of ex PM of India, Shalini Rajneesh IAS , Principal Secy dept. Of Health. Fashion show by a celebrity designer and backed by C Krishnaiyah Chetty added glitz and glamour to this glorious evening.

While I walked the ramp to be felicitated with pride, my look to suit my title was sponsored by few brands that I totally love.

Sari @ritukumar this beautiful cream organza sari was the show stopper for #lakmefashionweek while #manushichillar had worn it in #jiogardens . I loved this colour although there was a beautiful green also in it.
Jewellery @ckc Since I have previously done collaborated posts with C Krishnaiyah Chetty and they were also sponsoring the looks of models on the ramp so my jewellery too was done by them for the gala event, check the blog posts HERE. My Friend and a popular stylist @Amitpandya chose very contemporary look for me. He chose Aquamarine stones for me. Minimal is so red carpet so we just went ahead with the ring and ear drops and bracelet in the same stone. Each aquamarine is one carat ( price on request) .
My hair and makeup was done in contemporary fashion to go with the look so we used gelled look and I left my hair open at back in a very #deepikapdukone style.

I’m more than glad to have gotten this recognition and acknowledgment on a platform like this. So be fashionable and keep loving loftyspectrums.

I’m invincible, unstoppable, unshakeable, unbreakable…I’m champion

How to dress up for a red carpet event- IIFA Awards

Each one of us wants to look and feel glamorous for events and special occasions, but that doesn’t imply that you have to drop the same pretty penny these actors do, you could find in your bold style perfect for you today!!
Award season, specially IIFA, with its arrival has made the red carpet fashion come out in its full force. We have seen the glamorous and fashion forward looks of actors of Bollywood already.
The red carpet and green carpet looks are a li’l beyond your typical prom dress, it is about accessories that are statement pieces.

But wearing what is comfortable is important to feel confident specially if you have to walk the stage.
Recently when I was at an international beauty pageant as their Jury, I made sure I wear something that is elegant and position or duty appropriate, so I needed to look like a bit of everything-fashionable, glamorous yet graceful.
My beautiful jewellery was curtesy @rubanaccessories. I loved the chunky jewellery that I wore with black gown. My gowns were done in fish cut beautifully by the designer @laxmikrishnalabel

The orange gown with a ruffle running down was teamed with some twinkling jewellery with stones adding sparkle to my look and a statement ring. I prefer wearing a plain gown with right cuts to enhance my curves and body. Minimal is the key with some right makeup.
Embrace the new and shine on. This was my first time when I have given red carpet looks in gowns & it was great experience: evening gowns with Trendy jewellery for the first time – blogged.

Staycation at Shangri-La Fitness goals & health club

At Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru, health and wellness are more than just a short-term indulgence; they are a way of life. Keeping this in mind, the hotel’s level 3 was designed to be a fully equipped dedicated wellness floor that caters to all its guests’ health and wellness needs. It treats guests to a variety of experiences that takes them away from their busy schedules to an environment of peace, calm and healing.

Last weekend We had an opportunity to stay in this lavish property that is nestled in the heart of the city. We had an amazing time starting our Saturday with some exotic and delicious Mediterranean lunch at Caprese. The platter was delicious with cheese and meat along with exotic fruits and salads sprayed with aromatic olive oil. And yes, then I headed to room to take a siesta for after that I had to go ahead n work it out.

Hence it’s always a great idea to spend a weekend unwinding here, though in the heart of the city yet so relaxed and tranquil. And I chose to spend some quality time exercising and swimming, sleeping eating and repeating at Shangri-La.

This oasis of tranquillity features an outdoor temperature-controlled swimming pool and a hydro-thermal experience encompassing a steam bath, sauna and a Jacuzzi. The wellness floor also has a state-of-the-art gymnasium equipped with Technogym ARTIS and ARKE series, the unparalleled, highest-quality gym equipment. In addition, guests can benefit from personal training sessions tailored to their unique fitness requirements.

All the facilities of CHI, the spa and health club are nestled in one floor. This time my #staycation focussed on the physical training and a swim and then finally dinner in the room. When it’s Anuja coming for staycation she makes sure she goes for a spa session at CHI.

In addition to the CHI spa, the wellness floor has a 24-hour Health Club with a variety of cardio machines, including treadmills, cross trainers, upright bicycles, recumbent bicycles and stair masters, all with a touchscreen offering TV services and Internet connectivity, along with top-of- the-line equipment from Technogym’s Kinesis, ARKE and OMNIA series. Professional trainers provide guidance and ensure that training is conducted in a safe manner.

With the launch of Technogym’s “Wellness on the Go”, users are able to enjoy the wellness lifestyle wherever they are – in the gym, at home, at work or outdoors – and stay connected to their world and their training. With an integrated Android interface, users can work, give interviews and hold conference calls digitally while training.

Other facilities on the wellness floor include a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, relaxation room and a heated lounger. Also available is a kids’ pool and an outdoor pool, with a depth of 1.2 metres and a length of 25 metres, making it ideal for both leisure and training.

The swimming pool is open to in-house guests daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Non-residential guests may also access the pool and other facilities through yearly or half-yearly memberships.

Health Club membership is available for individual guests, couples, families of four (a couple with two children aged up to 16 years old) and for groups of five members or more. Swimming pool membership is available for individual guests and couples.

Guests may relax and rejuvenate at the CHI spa from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Non-resident guests may access the club from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. The well-equipped gymnasium is available to in-house guests 24 hours daily.

Have u had a #staycation yet in this plush luxury hotel, if not then go ahead and book your weekend folks.

Summer Lookbook #005- The Royal Wedding Look

With the season of awards nights, model hunts and beauty pageants, and derbies, the fact that you look suited to the occasion and wear appropriate outfit ( specially if you are invited as honourable jury) holds quite an importance.
The current summer lookbook series is specially been loved by all of you so I really wanted to include a regal look that could suit such classy occasions too.
The recent royal wedding of #princeharry and #meghanmarkle has upped the fashion quotient and stands as an inspiration to millions. Of course, it was only #priyankachopra who got to attend the wedding but we all stand astounded and inspired to make some British fashion statements this season.

So my summerlookbook #5, {click #anujasummerlookbook for more looks this season} is a very Brit looking dress with assymetrical cut to it and a ruffle ( yes, ruffles are here to stay). What I love the most about it is it’s bishop sleeves, that make this pastel powder blue dress so elegant. Its one of those dresses that doesn’t expose any inch of your skin and hence is an class act. I paired it with pink lipsticks and pink pumps in a typical British fashion when even the toes are not exposed (only if I could have been a part of such a royal affair since I’m all set).

I’m wearing pastel pink coloured glass beads set that I had recently picked up from #murrano glass factory in #italy.
If only I had done my hair in a bun or some fascinators I think we are ready for a derby or a fashionable night.
My location was amazing and it suited my mood with the aroma of hot brewing chocolate while it was drizzling as I looked outside the window panes in #nemmabengaluru – its the #fabellechocloates boutique at #itcgardenia. In fact, I loved reading few concoctions too; only how I wish they were love potions and I could be with my beau who is not in town these days…♥️

Farzi Café- illusions of fusion

Farzi has many connotations and I yet remember how my Mom was amazed to hear this name few years back, as this means ‘illusion’. “Why the name FARZI”, was the question that made us curious to try out the food there. I remember how both of us went to enjoy a meal there. It was a delightful experience to see how amazingly Indian flavours from various parts of india were infused into the global cuisine. These recipes were presented in a suave fashion with amalgamation of global cuisine into Indian desi classics, in a very contemporary way in totally a rocking, chic ambiance with some high energy music. That’s when mom told me,”you know why this is Farzi, because they create illusions…”. This is the gastronomical delight that Farzi Café brings in with some dose of everything in its recipes, the innovative menus with some inspiring artistic presentation on quirky plates and serving bowls [in the various shapes of rolling pin, pestle and mortar etc bring back to us the memories of an era that is being forgotten in the rut of todays life, the time of our grandmoms when the preparations were thorough and servicing style was so rustic and traditional].

Yes, Farzi is an illusion wherein we think its so global, and hip and chic while it, at the same time amalgamates and fuses cultures within food and music and a lot more in preparation, spices, innovation and the beautiful presentation. That is Farzi Café Unplugged for all of you.

Last week it has launched its new menu which is so unique and droolworthy. It was a happy bunch of few influencers, food writers, bloggers and enterpreneurs for this delightful lunch that went on for hours, and how we all loved eating the delicacies over discussions on the dominant flavours and other good stuff ( a good bunch makes for a good lunch and good times always). Thanks @Sheetal C for inviting us and being a lovely host, you simply rocked and thank you @Rekha Ghosh for being around and looking after us, your presence always brings about a new surge of energy in the environment.

@Suresh Hinduja, the popular food critic for this new menu and he told me what spices {or read seeds} ‘panchphoran’ is composed of, you can send in your guesses and we will surely disclose it to you…!!

The farzi café new menu is artistic and so original. I am totally ‘farzified’ by the regional recipe of south marrying north in recipes like charcoal appams with paneer bhurji with a imparting it such a unique flavor, the charcoal giving a modern look and feel to the otherwise an Indian recipe at heart.

And then another chartbuster was the khichdi risotto that took my heart away. I realized how my love for risotto and khichdi could be satiated at the same time. I must take this recipe from Mr. Suresh Hinduja soon.

The Italian balls made with daal and chawal were another show stealer.

Goa-A peek into a Digital nomad’s day

Merciless summers, heat waves and nowhere to hang out, unless its indoors. Mostly we all love to go to #Goa only in winters around December assuming that to be the best season, but I choose to go now too. Its undoubtedly harsh summers in India and one would wonder why Goa in this scorching heat. But, I a traveler, explorer and a travel writer say why not Goa in this season too.

Usually I love going to Goa all round the year since it has one or the other thing to offer an enthusiast any season of the year it might be. So why Goa?

Goa is lovely in summers too, and I particularly love to laze around in this season. If one wants a break free from daily monotony, then there’s nothing as interesting as being in Goa. You can do a lot of summer fun activities like parasailing, paragliding, motor biking, water biking if you are a sports lover. Although I’m not such an adventure lover and I love to be in the pool and bike around in the evenings. I love pool and biking.

So, this time we, Me n Lucky, were in Goa on the special invite of The Lalit Golf Resorts and Spa to spend a weekend there. It’s a beautiful property and we had a great time again. The amazing property of this golf resort offers all facilities along with some great spa and meditation classes with some amazing Balinese interiors that just makes one connect with oneself.

Here’s a sneak peek into how my day one looked like in Goa in THE LALIT RESORTS.

So, our room was a lavish suit with a dining space and as I opened the back side French doors of the room, they overlooked sprawling lawns and the blue swimming pool.

I slept till late in the morning and as I woke up some lavish breakfast was served in the room with hot coffee and freshly squeezed oranges (oh howI love these li’l pleasures of holidaying).

Soon after, we went and saw the beautiful bungalow in the property where the movie #golmaal has been shot. We made sure we click few pics here too.

After lunch we took a ride on bike around the property of The Lalit and then headed to the shacks towards the seashore and I spent some time doing my digital freelancing, content and checking mails while having plenty of fluids and keeping hydrated andenjoying the sunset. The sunset hour or the #goldenhour is amazing time to do photography.

While I was up to behaving like an unsocial, digitally addicted nomad,  My co blogger, Lucky was in the sea water all noon doing some water sports.

The best thing about Goa tourism is that it’s cheap, unlike many other destinations and its westernized enough to keep your spirits high. The locals are lovely people and warm. You get some amazing food in Goa and specially at the Lalit, particularly if you are a seafood lover.

Finally, we jumped in the pool (the water baby we all are) and what’s the fun in summers if there’s no water, sun and tan, I love the bronzed-up glow the sun has imparted to my face and legs.

Goa is lovely in all seasons and it offers great food even if you are staying with some locals. The digital age makes it slightly easy for us to work from any part of the world specially if your job is such. It is safe for women travelers and is convenient. There’s no dull moment in Goa, there are lot of party places, eat outs and home stays that serve enticing local cuisine. The expats have their regular hang outs where one could go and chill, you could spend an entire month in a place like this. This was Goa for you-for a gypsy’s heart from a nomad’s diary.

I would also be putting up the vlog on my YouTube channel soon.

Thanks to the management team of The Lalit for such an amazing retreat. Totally rejuvenated…

Summer Lookbook #004 – Athleisure

“Fashion is like eating, you shouldn’t stick to the same menu everyday”

As I had spoken in my previous blogs that I’m doing a series on my casual outings and formals too this summer, so here’s the #lookbook3 for this week. This look is my workout to go to co works space (read my office), to the luxury hotels for an evening meeting with a client if need be – Athleisure.

Athleisure is a concept that’s taken over the fashion world since last season. We have practically seen all models and stars in this look. So my #lookbook3 speaks of the same.

It’s an effortless style, it’s a fashion movement when your gym pants, yoga pants, shorts, tights, leggings, and sneakers can be worn outside gym to more casual or social settings.
This look can be carried to office and parties too and hence we realise that wearing sneakers to pub hopping is a trend these days (and what better way than to keep comfy while you dance your blues away).
So there’s no need to sweat over the questions like can you pull off leggings? What to wear when it’s scorching outside? Blah blah…

The styling can make a huge difference. So look for the biggest athleisure advocates like #KendallJenner and #GigiHadid and prepare to be inspired.

*Just wear your leggings with crop tops, layer it with a long vest.

*Pair it with tank tops.

*Just wear it with a top and add one accessory like a belt/choker to transform the look from gym to work space.

*Carry a tote bag to carry some accessories or light makeup to help you survive the day.

Location courtesy @itcgardenia where I happened to go for a meeting and loved the heavenly flute that an artist plays in evening times when it’s dusk. My mother always says that it’s ideal to do an aarti or play some instrument at dusk time to draw positive energy into the environment and hence I not only enjoyed the beautiful music but also savoured it even more.

Leggings- @only

Blouse – Street pick from #Thailand

So the idea is to prepare to inspire and breathe easy in your yoga pants all day long. Have a fabulous week ahead ladies and keep inspiring!
Xoxo!!
Yours truly

Summer capsule for Men with #rarerabbit

As summers are peaking, the fashion quotient is also soaring high with Rare Rabbit. The spring/summer collection of rare rabbit is truly for #afewraremen and you too can join the wagon, if you haven’t yet, by shopping this premium luxury brand that offers choicest of fabrics and fashion for men. My sartorial choices for this season are colourful and soothing, subtle yet making a style statement. I personally love shopping from rare rabbit for the amazing array of choices it has on its racks. Though this time I’m privileged to be creating content and style for this chic and modern brand in my way curtesy the brand.

Outfit 1 – Linen on Linen

The cardinal fashion rules are meant to be revised and I feel wearing linen with linen is super cool. A lot of us feel that a linen shirt must be worn on denims or other ways but the idea is to be cool in summers and as you sip in your ales, you would surely love the feel of linens in this heat.

Rare Rabbit | Men fashion | Lofty Spectrums

The store in UB city where I shopped from had everything a man needs in different moods. And I had a crush immediately on this tangy orange linen shirt, it’s such an international color on runway this season.

If you want to transform your lounge/resort look to more glam look then you can always add a flirty stole and sneakers. All we need to do is to play with the wardrobe we create by mixing and adding according to the occasions and mood.

Outfit 2 – A tangy lime green with shorts

With sun at its peak, the pastels and powdery shades have made a comeback and I loved this lime green tee-shirt and shorts. This simple and subtle combination is timeless. Its impossible to not look cool in this outfit.

Whenever you are in doubt and don’t know what to wear then this is the combi that will save your life. You can dress up or dress down anytime. You can add a bomber jacket to it if you are going clubbing with your girl or just wear a white linen/ cotton jacket to make it a lunch affair.

Ps * All these outfits I mentioned to dress up are available at the #rarerabbit.

Outfit 3- White on White

I just loved this cool crew neck tee and everyone must have a tee of this kinds this season for the simple reason that whites are the timeless fashion. Don on a leather jacket when you are in Europe. This never goes wrong.

Summer Lookbook #003 – Styling Palazzos

  • We all love the voluminous and flowing lehangas but what if your diary is pencilled with casual events and you are obsessed with flares. One must look no further than the sophisticated yet carefree vibe of palazzo pants. These are versatile and can be worn for any occasions.
  • These pants are a sweet boho chic combo and they save you a lot of stress if you choose to wear it for weddings as you don’t have to be on guard as you are with lehangas or full length anarkalis as they risk one with falling down or crashing if you are wearing heels; or say, climbing the stairs. So palazzos don’t compromise on your mobility and if one works them in different styles then they could be a more fuss free fashion.
  • So let’s embrace the new age trend and be as droolicious as the Bollywood divas. The style inspiration from these celebrities says a lot about the versatility of palazzos.

  • A svelte body looks good with cape as a top but if you are large it’s better to stay always from two pieces of garments that are both anti fit. It gives a shabby look unless you wear it in thin fabrics which show off your midriff which is well worked out.

  • Crop top is the most casual way of wearing it and it goes with all sort of bodies. You could keep the length of crop top as per your convenience and let’s hit the gyms to go shorter next season. I have tried to keep it simple and fuss free. This pant cum skirt is a modern way to style yourself. You could wear it with a crop top for a day’s outing or a body suit like the one I’m wearing here or you could just pair it with some embellished party top for a more formal look.

  • Then in the summers one could also wear it with long Kurtas and look classy. A long well fitting Kurta is a better choice or else it would look like one is in a sack.

Flowing and fashion forward, this pair of plum dehry satin asymmetrical pants that I’m wearing is great for both Western and Indian outfits. Comfortable and classy these palazzos can be worn anytime of the day or night.
With more accessories and added layers in form of a long cape/jacket it can be easily be transformed from a casual to a party wear.
Since it’s summers and as I said I would be doing a series of summer lookbook hence I thought of documenting this style statement too. To keep it less plain I have added a belt with this look although even a lovely waistband in metallic colours would look great as well.
So breath in some fresh whiff of air in your wardrobe with some amazing palazzos and have a fashionable summer.
